AWAKENING OUR GARDENS

Many hands make light work… We’re getting ready for growing! Come to say hi or to help out on either (or both) day(s). We’ll be there from 1-4pm, but you can come and go as you please.
If you come to help out, be sure to dress appropriately including a hat and garden gloves. We’ll have tools and some extra gloves on hand.
Saturday, May 4, at Turning Point Recovery Center, corner of Frost and Elm (diagonally across from NE Youth Theatre.
Sunday, May 5, at the Brattleboro Food Co-op – rear parking lot along the Whetstone Brook
Tasks at each garden include: tidy up and pile debris/trash for hauling, renew compost and soil layers on the sheet-mulched beds, lay down wood chips on the paths set up pea fencing and plant peas, plant other suitable early seeds, replenish several container gardens, put up new signs, hand out brochures and sign up new volunteers.
Fresh veggie snacks for all plus a seed planting activity for children.

Come cook–and eat!–with Edible Brattleboro Monday March 11 at 6 pm in the Co-op community kitchen. Knock the mud off your boots and come on over. Together we’ll prepare three whole food, plant-based recipes: Potato Leek Soup, Moroccan Stew, and Key Lime Pie. Bring yourselves and maybe an apron and your favorite knife; everything else is provided, including child care. The evening is free, but please register by contacting shareholder services.
